BMS World Mission

Ray of hope in Thailand

Judy Cook asks for prayer for a new initiative in Thailand:

"Since November, a colleague from Chiang Mai and I have initiated the opening of Hope Home – a home for disabled children. Some of them will be for future adoption and we aim to increase their potential before going, through love, one on one care, intense therapy and good nurture. Others were in big institutions and not able to receive individual care because of staff numbers and time pressures. We presently have six residential children, aged two to 12, mostly with cerebral palsy.

"They are settling in well, and our staff are dedicated to pouring love and nurture into these precious lives. I try to give as much time as I can there, outside of of other responsibilities, and love seeing the children grow and develop, even now, in small but hugely significant ways. For example, one boy came to us only able to feed via a

nasogastric tube, and not by mouth. He now takes foods orally after several months of nothing orally, and is loving the sensation of food once more. Above all, the smiles of the children speak a thousand thank yous! I thank BMS for enabling me to put time into this opportunity.

"Please remember Hope Home in your prayers, the day to day running, the staff and children and also the future sustainability of the Home as we seek ongoing funding."
