Kenyan refugees are starving in Ugandan border towns after fleeing there to escape politicised tribal violence. According to some reports, some people from Kenya had become so desperate that they had taken to roaming the Ugandan streets, begging for food from homes and left-overs from restaurants.
In Busia district, local communities are trying to cope with the influx of 5,000 people but do not have sufficient resources.
The Baptist Union of Uganda, a BMS World Mission partner, has started a programme to feed 500 Kenyan refugees, providing food, cooking utensils and fuel to those whose lives have been uprooted by the killings and riots that followed Kenya’s recent elections.
BMS has made a relief grant of £2,500 to assist in providing food for these desperate people.
BMS can only feed people with your help. Even a small amount can make a huge difference. Even £5 can change a life.
