BMS World Mission

Still caring for tsunami sufferers

04/04/2008

BMS World Mission has not forgotten the victims of the 2004 tsunami.

Thanks to a gift from a British church, trusted BMS partners in Sri Lanka will receive £1,600 to help continue housing repairs and restoring livelihoods to those still being affected by the damage done to buildings, boats and small businesses.

BMS Manager for Mission Partnerships, David McLellan, said: “It is encouraging that churches recognise what BMS knows from partners in some of the most devastated areas of the world: that very real needs persist, long after the disaster has left the headlines.

The BMS south Asia tsunami appeal officially concluded in 2007, but this subsequent gift and the grant it has made possible were timely reminders that BMS work often remains, long after others have gone.”
