Burma cyclone disaster: prayer update 21/05/08

21/05/2008
For thousands of people who have been lost everything they have, now is an extremely difficult time. Please remember Burma in your prayers.

We're helping. Will you?
BMS is continuing to monitor the situation in Burma. Over recent weeks, we have been able to support our partner organisations through giving relief grants. This has equipped aid workers on the ground to reach those worst affected.

There is still much more that needs to be done. A key BMS partner inside Burma has highlighted continuing vast needs.

Together we urgently need to supply basic necessities such as candles, soap and medical support, along with generators for ten communities and plastic roofing for 1,000 families.
Prayer points:
  • That the flow of aid supplies continues and that it reaches the right people. Pray that BMS and its partner organisations are wise in how we distribute resources.
  • For the Burmese government, that they continue to allow more workers into the country.
  • For Burmese Christians, that they are given the opportunity to show the love of Jesus in a practical way even when things are difficult.

The international community has been more than ready to send aid and workers to the country. The Burmese government is now showing signs of co-operation, allowing relief workers into the country.
