Andrew North, BMS Regional Secretary for Africa, writes: "Thank you for your support and prayers this past week for the country of Guinea. For all our people in Guinea, this past week has been challenging especially for the team in Macenta.
"It seems that there is a political solution being found between the government and the army which is enabling the country to return to some sort of normality".
Following violence in the African nation of Guinea over the last few days, the country seems to have entered a period of relative calm. Violence erupted this week as the army demanded the back pay owed them and improved living conditions. With a number of concessions having been made, the situation seems to be stable for the moment.
BMS World Mission has personnel in Kissidougou and Macenta and they report that all is currently quiet. BMS is in regular contact with personnel and their families and can confirm that they are all safe.
BMS will continue to monitor the situation and respond to needs as they arise.
Please pray for Guinea, that peace and sustainable stability return, and for safety for the population. Pray also for our workers and many partner workers in the country, that they might have wisdom and a sense of peace as events unfold.
