Congo is burning. The mineral-rich East of the country, so long torn apart by local and foreign militias, is experiencing a surge in violence and resulting displacement of vast numbers of people.
It has been in our news for weeks, but has been going on for years, claiming several millions of lives.
As a follow-up to the recent observance of Congo Week and a recent relief grant to help with relief operations in Congo, BMS is joining with our good friends at CMS in calling supporters to prayer and fasting on 22 November.
CMS have loads of information and several guides to effective prayer for effected regions in Congo, which you can find by clicking here.
You can also find general information on the BMS Congo Week page, including other ways you can get involved.
For this weekend, though, prayer, fasting and remembering Congo will be a good start. And don’t worry if you miss it.
Prayer and fasting, remembering those in distress and joining with fellow Christians across denominations and across the world are always powerful things to do, no matter what the date.
