"No matter whether you are in your 20s or your 60s the time that you spend in training at IMC will probably be one of the highlights of your life.
As mid-termers in our 60s, Anne and I were privileged to spend three months at IMC. Just to have time with God away from the day to day activities is a blessing, but then that is coupled with quality teaching over topics that ranged from studies of complete books of the bible, the prophets, Jesus' life and times, growth of Christianity, life in a new culture, development, missionary history,….. the list goes on. There was sufficient time to pursue our own studies. The choice of a major project gave time for in-depth research into a topic that might be of future use and its application in the country to which we were assigned taught a lot about that country.
Morning and mid-week worship was meaningful and full of variety being led by us students, and for one glorious month by the Action teams (18 and 19 year-olds).
The whole group in training gelled very quickly into a unit where everyone was included and the people that you train with become additional friends for life.
Training at IMC provides an orderly stepping stone from one period of your life to the next. It makes the transition easy and ensures that you are fully equipped for the next phase.

We have our own training centre in Birmingham - International Mission Centre. It is a very comfortable centre not far from central Birmingham with good facilities, great food, and excellent camaraderie.
BMS provides mid-term volunteers with the valuable and unique opportunity to spend a term at IMC completely free of charge and with full board provided. This will give you the chance to study the Bible in more depth, to think through the issues of crossing cultures, to discuss theology with other students, to explore different ways of doing mission and prepare for your time abroad in practical ways. You will be part of a praying, worshipping, caring and sharing community and be fully supported by the IMC staff.
Training at IMC is a significant part of the mid-term volunteer programme.
