“God doesn’t do waste”

28/07/2010

We all (try to) do our weekly paper, plastic and glass recycling – but what about spiritual waste control?

A new book written by Dave Bookless, the national director of BMS’ partner A Rocha, entitled, God doesn’t do waste, aims to tackle just this.

Following hot on the heels of his first title, Planetwise, Dave’s new autobiographical-style book explores his and his family’s environmental journey – but goes on to consider the notion of spiritual waste.

In fact, the book’s blurb states that, “in one sense it isn’t about going green at all [but rather] a personal account of a life lived in relationship.”

Dave explains: “The book explores the idea of waste in terms of all the apparent ‘rubbish’ that life throws at us in terms of illness, disappointment and hardship, and how God is able to redeem even such things – hence the book’s subtitle Redeeming the whole of life.”

“My hope and prayer is that because it’s a personal story and an easy read, it will appeal both to non-Christians and to those Christians who would consider themselves environmentalists.”

God doesn’t do waste is published by IVP and is currently available on the A Rocha website at a special introductory price of £6.00 +p&p (RRP £7.99 +p&p). Click here for more details and to order your copy.
