Jeff Taylor
"I'm continually impressed with the work of BMS, both with the scope and variety of its mission activities and the quality of its personnel."
Jeff Taylor retired as senior pastor of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Northampton, in April 2008, having served as a Baptist minister since 1974 both in local churches and as a regional minister. Before this Jeff was employed in banking for 12 years.
Whilst he was pastor at Mount Pleasant, the church sent out several people to serve with BMS. Jeff himself has been involved in a number of overseas mission trips including visits to Nepal and Lebanon with BMS. He brings to the Board a wealth of experience, not only of Baptist church life and ministry, but also of BMS. First becoming a member of General Committee in 1990, he served on the Board from 2000 to 2005 and is a former BMS President (2003/04). He is a current member of the BMS Selection Board and also serves as a BMS-nominated Trustee of the Baptist Assembly.
Returning to the Board in 2008, Jeff has served as its Chair since then. During this period he oversaw the appointment of the new General Director.
Following retirement, Jeff and his wife Pauline continue to live in Northampton to be near their children and grandchildren. The only drawback with this, as far as Jeff is concerned, is the fact that there are no decent hills in Northamptonshire as he loves hillwalking. However, retirement affords opportunities to visit the Lake and Peak Districts, and BMS commitments still allow time to regularly watch cricket at the County Ground during the summer.
