Marc Owen
"As a Baptist Christian I’m thrilled to be involved with BMS World Mission. It has such a varied portfolio and I get really excited by what we’re doing throughout the world."
Marc was born and bred in Swansea, South Wales. Converted at the age of 12, he sensed a strong call to Christian ministry and by the age of 16 was encouraged by his pastor to take part in services and eventually preach. He entered training for ministry at Bristol Baptist College. Completing his studies he became the student pastor at Priory Street Baptist Church, Corsham, Wiltshire and was invited to become their full-time pastor shortly after. In July 1993 he became the senior pastor of Milton Baptist Church, Weston-super-Mare, Somerset where he ministered for 12 years, seeing the church grow extensively, building a new state-of-the-art facility and establishing a team ministry.
In 2005 he was invited to become the Church Life Secretary for the Baptist Union of Wales, a role which has developed extensively over the last five years, seeing him take responsibility for mission and aspects of ministry amongst the Baptist churches of that Union. He has travelled extensively – particularly to Belarus, Romania and Poland – speaking as an evangelist and teaching on a variety of issues including Christian leadership and church growth. Married to Sarah, they have two children Jonathon and Kathryn. Marc’s interests include most sports (more watching than playing these days!), as well as spending time with his family.
