Daveen & Mike Wilson
Who: Daveen & Mike Wilson
Where: Brazil
How long: Since 1988
Serving priority: Church Planting, Development
Before going to Brazil, Mike worked as a farmer in England, followed by three years with Tearfund in Lesotho. Daveen worked in banking and then studied Portuguese and Spanish at Leeds University. Both trained at All Nations Christian College.
In Brazil they have been involved in church work and rural development in the small community of Trapiá situated in the semi-arid, sertão area of the northeast. This is one of the poorest regions in Brazil with one of the highest infant mortality rates. Their major emphasis is on training people to carry on the work both in the church and through development projects.
They have developed a team approach to all of their work and have regularly received teams and volunteers from the UK for short-term involvement with their area ministry. In June 2012 they will be leaving Trapiá, returning to the UK for an open-ended period in Sutton Coldfield, during which they will be seeking God's guidance for their ministry.
They have three children, Debbie, Paul and Julia.
Mike and Daveen enjoy outdoor activities; Daveen loves reading.
Mike and Daveen’s home church is Sutton Coldfield Baptist Church.
