Transforming lives on four continents

Development Intern Programme

Real life – not a lecture

Applications are now closed for our 2012/13 Development Interns programme. There may still be opportunities for similar placements under our Volunteer Programme. If you are interested in this, or in the 2013/14 programme, please contact us

Go beyond what you learnt at university with BMS’ new Development Intern Programme.

We’ll give you:

  • Vital hands-on experience of overseas development work, including legal, agricultural and community development
  • An opportunity to seriously enhance your CV for future employment
  • A way to deepen your faith, serve God and engage with his people

And who knows where in the world it might take you next…

We’re looking for four students with an undergraduate degree or Masters in law, economics or development studies (or another related subject) to go to Uganda for six months from September 2012. You will be sent out as part of a team of four but will independently work on different projects.

Training will be given in July at IMC, our training centre in Birmingham. You will continue to receive training while overseas from partners and personnel.

The team for 2013/14 will likely be sent to Uganda.

After your seven months overseas you will return to do visits in churches and universities in order to engage churches with development and how this fits with mission.

The cost of the programme is still to be confirmed. Applications for our 2013/14 programme will reopen in the autumn.

BMS worker Alex Vickers, BMS mission worker in Uganda says, “This is real life, not a lecture room exercise. It is not just about developing your career; it is a chance to deepen your faith.

We are looking for graduates in development who are passionate about serving Jesus, enabling the poor and seeing the kingdom of God break through.”
