Transforming lives on four continents

Helping some of Syria's 'desperate million'

Desperate Syrians in need of food, shelter and medical supplies are being helped by BMS World Mission grants totalling over £15,000 and Christians in the area

BMS has not forgotten Syria. The violence there, which for a time dominated British newspaper headlines, continues to claim lives and send families fleeing from their homes, and BMS partners have been on hand to help, assisted by the giving of UK Christians.

About 30,000 Syrians are registered as refugees according to a UN agency, but a recent survey suggests at least one million Syrians are in need of food, shelter, protection, trauma counselling and hygiene products. This ‘desperate million’ is spread between areas within Syria as well as in neighbouring countries.

BMS grants totalling over £15,000 are helping local Syrian Christians together with BMS partners in neighbouring countries responding to the needs of those refugees and displaced people who are still in need. From food parcels, blankets, accommodation costs and gas bottles to medical supplies, counselling and administrative support, BMS grants have helped over 7,000 people fleeing from the continuing violence in Syria.

Thanks to your giving, BMS has been able to give a total of over £21,000 to helping refugees from the Syrian crisis.

If you would like to give to BMS disaster relief and reconstruction work, please make a donation.
Otherwise, please take a moment to pray for peace and justice in Syria.
