Japan disaster

Pray for the tens of thousands of people affected by the tsunami. Download a PowerPoint prayer for use in your church and listen to an interview with David Coffey.

On the afternoon of Friday 11 March, an earthquake of magnitude 8.9 struck off Japan’s north east coast.

BBC News reports that this earthquake was 8,000 times more powerful than that which hit New Zealand on 22 February.

At least 10,000 people are feared to have been killed by the quake and the resulting tsunami.

There is continuing concern about damaged nuclear power facilities. (Images: US Navy/Matthew M Bradley)

Please join with us in praying for:

  • Japan’s leaders, who need real wisdom at this time
  • Japan’s people, who are suffering and frightened
  • Japan’s Christians, who are small in number, but are ready to share God’s love

On behalf of the whole UK Baptist family, the BMS Relief Appeal stands ready to assist in Japan and in other disaster situations across the world, through trusted partners.

Please make any donations through the BMS Relief Appeal.
