Transforming lives on four continents

A Month of Planning Put Into Action

Posted by Peru Action Team 2011-12 at 21:10 on 9th February 2012

The doors opened on Monday and we have had success with bringing new children and parents to El Puente in its new location. The community are now seeing the church up and running which is a great push in outreach for the Church. God has really blessed the first few days by bringing more and more children each day. We have decided to run a cafe alongside the club for parents/carers to come have a coffee and a chat with church members. This has gone surprisingly well and has really provided a great opportunity for people to come and experience the healing that the Church of God has. Even though we are here and have planned the day-to-day activities of the club we are really blessed to have the church members getting involved in helping their Church grow.

Our evenings have been filled with the fun of hanging out with the jovenes! The English language is really important to these young people and we are getting alongside them to bless them with a new skill that will help in the future. There are Bible sessions which are led by different people in the Church and we have a weekly film night which is a great opportunity for the young people to invite their friends. Peruvians love craft so we spend a big chunk of time dedicated to this. They are keen to see this ministry grow and support it by handing out flyers with us.

Please keep praying!

We have mentioned previously about the spiritual darkness that we have experienced in Peru. This week we have been hit by the reality of this darkness. We have seen how it has affected the lives of the missionaries here in Cusco. As we visited the hospital as normal on Tuesday, there was a strange sense of negativity and darkness in this place – which we have never experienced before. We weren’t sure what was going on, but we know it was a vulnerable time for some people there by the tears and sadness that we saw. Even though we cannot explain exactly what it was like or what happened, we can say for sure that we felt as if God wanted us there to be a light in this darkness. We then spent time as a team that evening to both chat and pray about our thoughts and we realised how alive the devil is in this world, but ultimately how great and powerful our God is.
