Pray for Albania (25-31 March)

The mayor of Tirana has splashed bright paint on the city’s once squalid facades and invested in education and healthcare.

Yet much of the countryside remains trapped, as one reporter put it, “in a third world time warp”.

Amnesty International estimates that more than 18 per cent of the population lives below the poverty line of just two US dollars per day.

Pray for:

• The Baptist Church in Vlora, preparing for a transition in leadership from BMS worker Graham Sansom to BMS supported partner worker Ylli Beqiraj.
• BMS supported partner workers Genis and Blerta Myrteza, church-planting in the town of Unaze with a small team.
• Ministry at Light of the World Baptist Church, Shkozë, Tirana. Pray for supported partner workers Endri and Dyshi Tabaku, leading the fellowship.
• The medical outreach project based at the church in Shkozë, Tirana.
• The training of leaders for church life and pastoral oversight, which remains a priority for the young Albanian Church.
• BMS teachers at GDQ School in Tirana, including director Roger Pearce and Head of Lower School, Jane Waites.   
• Multi-roled BMS mum Nikki Pearce and children James and Beth, remembering especially the educational challenges
